Wine is a popular gift item. Here are two free patterns for wine cozies. The first makes a holder that has tight stitches. The second makes a cozy that is lacier. Choose the one that fits the recipient's style best.
Wine Bottle Cover Pattern #1
Finished Size: 12 1/2 inches
Materials:
- Moda Dea Bamboo Wool medium (worsted) weight yarn (3 oz/145 yds/80g per ball): 1 ball
- Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
- Stitch marker
Gauge:
- Rnds 1-5 = 3 1/2 inches across
Notes:
Work in continuous rounds, do not turn or join unless otherwise stated. Mark first stitch of each round. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
Cover
Rnd 1: Ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 1, 8 sc in ring, do not join. (8 sc)
Rnd 2: Work rem rnds in back lps, 2 sc in each st around. (16 sc)
Rnd 3: [2 sc in next st, sc in next st] around. (24 sc)
Rnd 4: [2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts] around. (32 sc)
Rnd 5: [2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts] around. (40 sc)
Rnd 6: [2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts] around. (48 sc)
Rnds 7-47: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 48. Sc in each st around. Join in beg sc.
Rnd 49: Work rem rnds in both lps, ch 4, sk next st, [dc in next st, ch 1, sk next st] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-4.
Rnd 50: Sl st in first ch sp, ch 1, sc in same ch sp, 5 dc in next ch sp, [sc in next ch sp, 5 dc in next ch sp] around, join in beg sc. Fasten off.
Tie
Ch 101, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Fasten off. Tie knot in each end. Weave Tie through ch sps of rnd 49.
Wine Bottle Cozy Pattern #2
Materials:
- Aunt Lydia’s Fashion Crochet size 3 crochet cotton (150 yds per ball): 1 ball
- Sizes C/2/2.75mm and D/3/3.25mm crochet hooks or size needed to obtain gauge
- 3/4 yd of 5/8-inch-wide ribbon
Gauge:
- Size D hook: Rnds 1 and 2 of Bottom = 2 inches across
Notes:
Join with a slip stitch unless otherwise stated. Chain-3 at beginning of double crochet round counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.
Bottom
Rnd 1: With Sized D hook, ch 4, sl st in beg ch to form ring, ch 3, 15 dc in ring, join with in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (16 dc)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (32 dc)
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same st, dc in next st, [2 dc in next st, dc in next st] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (48 dc)
Rnd 4: Working this rnd in back lps, ch 1, sc in each st around, join in beg sc. (48 sc)
