Everyone is encouraged to be as "green" as possible when shopping. This bag does just that, and it's so versatile that it can double as a purse, too.

Skill Level: Easy

Finished Size: 10 ½ inches tall, (not including handle)

Gauge: 9 sc = 2 inches; 10 sc rows = 2 inches

Materials

  • Large skeins of worsted weight yarn: Green and Ivory
  • Size F/5/3.75mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle

Tote

Rnd1:With green, ch38, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each of next 35chs, 5sc in last ch, working on opposite side of ch, sc in each of next 35chs, 4sc in last ch, join with slip stitch in beg sc. (80 sc)

Rnd2:Ch1, sc in each of first 37sts, 3sc in next st, sc in next st, 3sc in next st, sc in each of next 37sts, 3sc in next st, sc in next st, 3sc in last st, join in beg sc. (88 sc)

Rnd3:Ch1, sc in each of first 38sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of next 3sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of next 39sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of next 3sts, 3sc in next st, sc in last st, join in beg sc. (96 sc)

Rnd4:Ch1, sc in each of first 39sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of next 5sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of next 41sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of next 5sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of last 2sts, join in beg sc. (104 sc)

Rnd10:Ch1, sc in each of first 45sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of next 17sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of next 53sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of next 17sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of last 8sts, join in beg sc. (152 sc)

Rnd11:Ch1, sc in each of first 46sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of next 19sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of next 55sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of next19 sts, 3sc in next st, sc in each of last 9sts, join in beg sc. (160 sc)

Rnds12-20:Ch1, sc in each st, around, join in beg sc. Fasten off at end of last rnd.

Rnd21:Working this rnd in back lps, join white with sc in first st, sc in each st around, join in beg sc.

Rnd22:Working in back lps, ch1, sc in each of first 5sts (rem lps of these sts will be used for handle), working in front lps sc in each of next 27sts (rem lps of these sts with be used for pocket), working in both lps, sc in each of next 43sts, working in back lps, sc in each of next 5sts (rem lps of these sts with be used for handle), working in both lps, sc in each of next 27sts, sc in front lps of each of next 5sts (rem lps of these sts with be used for handle), working in both lps, sc in each of next 43sts, join in back lp of beg sc. (160 sc)

Rnds23-64:Ch1, sc in back lps of first 5sts (handle), sc in front lp of next st (pocket), sc in both lps of each of next 25sts, sc in front lp of next st (pocket), sc in each back lp of each of next 5sts (handle), sc in both lps of each of next 43sts, sc in back lp of each of next 5sts (handle), sc in both lps of each of next 43sts, join in back lp of beg sc.

Rnd65: Ch1, sc in back lp of each of first 5sts sc in back lps of first 5sts (handle), sc in both lps of each of next 27sts, sc in each back lp of each of next 5sts (handle), sc in both lps of each of next 43sts, sc in back lp of each of next 5sts (handle), sc in both lps of each of next 43sts, join in back lp of beg sc.

Rnd66-71:Ch1, work in both lps, sc in first st and in each st around, join in beg sc. At end of last rnd, fasten off.
