Fast and Easy Six-Sided Flower Patterns

Crocheted flowers are always popular to make, give, or receive. They can also be used as accents to just about any fabric.

These free patterns of flowers can be used in any way by the crocheter. Use them alone as pins, or attach them to purses, jeans, hats, and anything else that needs a feminine touch. A complimentary leaf pattern is included in case the crocheter would like to add some to the finished flowers. Of course, either of these flowers can be made in different colors.

Finished Sizes

  • Pink/Yellow 6-petal flower: 2 inches
  • Green Flower: 2 inches

Materials and Gauge

  • Size 10 crochet cotton in pink, yellow and green. A different shade of green is needed as well if leaves are to be added (optional).
  • Size 5 / 1.90mm steel crochet hook
  • Tapestry Needle
  • 6mm Pearl Beads
  • Craft Glue

Level: Easy

Gauge: 5 trtr cl (triple treble cluster) = 3 inches

Special Stitches

Double crochet decrease (dc dec): (Yo, insert hook, yo draw loop through, yo, drape through 2 loops on hook) in each of the stitches indicated, yo, draw through all loops on hook.

Triple treble cluster (trtr cl): *Yo 3 times, insert hook in indicated st, yo, draw up a loop, [yo, draw through 2 loops on hook] 3 times, repeat from * twice, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook.

Pink and Yellow 6-petal Flower

  • Round 1: With yellow, chain (ch) 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join in beginning sc. (6 sc)
  • Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each stitch around. Join in beginning sc. (12 sc)
  • Round 3: Ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in first st, ch 4, skip next st, [(sc, ch 3, sc) in next st, ch 4, skip next st] around. Join in beginning sc. Fasten off.
  • Round 4: Attach pink in any ch-4 space, ch 1, (sc, hdc, 2 dc, hdc, sc) in same ch-4 sp as beginning ch-1, skip next ch-3 sp, [(sc, hdc, 2 dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-4 sp, skip next ch-3 sp) around, join in beginning sc.
  • Round 5: Ch 1, sc in each of first 4 stitches, *2 sc in next sc, 3 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st**, sc in each of next 8 sts, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, sc in each of next 4 sts. Join in beginning sc. Fasten off. Sew (or glue) a 6mm bead to the center of the flower.

Green Flower

With green, form a small double loop, [ch 6, triple treble cluster (trtr cl) in loop, chain 5, slip stitch in top of trtr cl just made, chain 6, slip st in loop]6 times, join with slip st in base of beg ch-6. Fasten off. Sew (or glue) a 6mm bead to the center of the green flower.

Leaf

  • Round 1: Attach green for leaf with a slip st in any chain space of the flower that the leaf is to be attached to, ch 1 (sc, hdc, 2 dc, 7 tr, 2 dc, hdc, sc, slip st) in same ch space.
  • Round 2: Chain 4, dc dec (see special stitches) in next 5 stitches, ch 3, slip st in top of last st made, chain 4, slip st in same st as last st of dc dec, [ch 5, dc dec in next 5 sts, ch 3, slip st in same st as last st of dc dec] twice. Fasten off.
