Little girls will love these petite and pretty headbands. They work up quickly and a beginner can make them.

Little and big girls love headbands. Beginner crocheters will appreciate these two very easy-to-make patterns. They stitch up in a snap.

Flower-Trimmed Headband

Skill Level: Easy

Finished Size: Headband is 3x21 ½”.

Materials:

  • Small amounts of worsted weight yarn
  • Size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • A few small purchased white pom-poms (optional)
  • Sewing needle and thread
  • Blunt-end yarn needle

Gauge: 3 ½ shells and 10 rows = 4” (10 cm)

Instructions

  • With choice of MC (Main Color,) ch 14.
  • Foundation Row:Sc in 2nd ch from hook; (sk next 2 ch, 5 dc in next ch, sk next 2 ch, sc in next ch) twice. Turn. (2 Shells made)
  • Row 1:Ch 3 (counts as dc); 2 dc in first sc, sk next 2 dc, sc in next dc, sk next 2 dc, 5 dc in next sc, sk next 2 dc, sc in next dc, sk next 2 dc, 3 dc in last sc. Turn. (2 partial shells and 1 complete shell made)
  • Row 2 (RS):Ch 1, sc in first dc; (sk 2 dc, 5 dc in next sc, sk next 2 dc, sc in next dc) twice. Turn.
  • Rep Rows 1 and 2 until work measures approx 21 ½”, ending with Row 1. Fasten off.
  • Sew the first and the last rows together.

Instructions for Flower(s)

Make 3 flowers, each of any color scrap yarn.

  • Ch 3; join with sl st to form ring.
  • Rnd1:Ch 1, work 10 sc in round; join with sl st to first sc.
  • Rnd2:Ch 2, dc in same st as last sl st; *in next sc work dc, ch 2, and sl st**, ch 2, dc in next sc; rep from * around, ending last rep at **. (5 petals)
  • Fasten off.
  • Place a pom-pom in the center of each flower and sew them to headband in a grouping as illustrated.

Striped Headband

Skill Level: Easy

Finished Size: 21 inches in circumference (all the way around the band.)

Materials:

  • 2 balls, 1 of each in any color worsted weight yarn (Color A and Color B)
  • Size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge: 17 sc and 16 rows = 4” (10 cm)

Instructions

  • With Color A, ch 90; keep the chain untwisted, join with sl st to form ring.
  • Rnd1:Ch 1, sc in same ch as join and in each ch around; join Color B with sl st in the back lp of first sc.
  • Rnd2:With Color B, ch 1, sc in back lp of each sc around; join A with sl st in back lp of first sc.
  • Rnd3:With A, ch 1, sc in back lp of each sc around; join B with sl st in back lp of first sc.
  • Rep Rnds 2 and 3 until work from beg measures approx 2 ½”, ending with Rnd3. With A, sl st through both lps of first sc.
  • Next Rnd:Ch 1, working from left to right (reverse sc), sc in each sc around; join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
  • With RS facing, join A with sl st to first rem lp of foundation ch, ch 1, work reverse sc in each ch around; join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
