Pretty crochet flowers are a lovely accent to almost anything. They are easy, quick-to-make, and can be made out of absolutely any scrap yarn that’s available. Here are three free flower patterns to get started.

Skill Level: Easy

Materials

  • Yarn

Color selection is up to the crocheter. Be creative, and if help is needed, follow the color wheel’s advice.

  • Crochet hook

Size F/5 (3.75mm) or any size to obtain correct gauge.

Finished Measurements

  • Large flower: 3 ½”/9cm diameter
  • Three petal flower: 1 ¼”/3cm diameter
  • Four petal flower: 1 ¾”/4.5cm diameter

Special Stitch

Spike single crochet (SSC) = Spike stitch is worked one or more rows below previous row. For spike single crochet sts worked in four petal flower, insert hook in center ring instead of in stitch below, yarn over and draw up a loop to height of working round, yarn over and draw between both loops on hook.

Note: Don’t be put off by this stitch if it looks daunting. Once executed, it will become clear that it is very simple.
