Materials
Chenille medium (worsted) weight yarn (3 oz/174 yds/85g per skein): 2 skeins
Size 10 crochet cotton (350 yards per ball): 1 skein
Sizes E/4/3.5mm and H/8/5mm crochet hooks or size needed to obtain gauge
Large-eyed yarn needle
16 inches round elastic
Stitch marker
Gauge
Size H hook, one strand chenille and one strand crochet cotton held together should make a gauge of: 12 sc = 4 inches.
Pattern Notes
Weave in loose ends as work progresses.
Join rounds with a slip stitch unless otherwise stated.
Case is worked with one strand each chenille (any color) and crochet cotton size 10 (any color) held together unless otherwise stated.
The crochet cotton reinforces the chenille yarn and makes the case sturdier / non-stretchy.
Special Stitches
Picot: Ch 3, slip stitch in top front loop of last stitch made.
Fpdc and Fptr: Front post double crochet and front post treble / triple crochet. Insert hook from right to left around front of post stitch on previous row. Tr or Dc as usual.
Bptr: Back post treble crochet. Insert hook from right to left around back of post stitch on previous row. Tr as usual.
Back
Rnd1(RS): With size H hook and 1 strand each of yarn / thread, ch5, sl st to join in beg ch to form a ring, ch3 (counts as first dc throughout), 11dc in ring, join in top of beg ch3. (12 dc)
Rnd2: Ch3, fptr around ch3 of rnd1, [dc in next dc, fptr around post of same dc] 11 times, join in top of beg ch3. (24sts)
Rnd3: Ch3, dc in next fptr, fptr around same fptr as last st was worked**, dc in next dc, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join in top of beg ch3. (36sts)
Rnd4: Ch2 (counts as first hdc throughout), hdc in next dc, hdc in next fptr, fpdc around same fptr as last st was worked, [hdc in each of next 3sts, fpdc around same st as last hdc was worked] around, join in top of beg ch2. (48sts)
Rnd5: Ch2, hdc in each of next 3sts, fpdc around same st as last hdc was worked, [hdc in each of next 4sts, fpdc around same st as last hdc was worked] around, join in top of beg ch2. (60sts)

Rnd2(RS): Ch1, *in next ch sp work 1 sc, ch1, 7tr, ch2, turn, dc in first st, bptr around each tr, hdc in sc, ch1, turn, fpdc around first tr, picot, [sk next st, fpdc around next st] 3 times, picot ch1, sl st in top of turning ch, ch1, sl st in base of same turning ch, ch2, sc in same ch sp, rep from * around, join in beg sc, turn. (6 petals)
Rnd3(WS): Sl st into bottom 2lps of first tr at base of petal, sc in bottom 2lps of next tr, ch3, sk next 3tr, sc in base of next tr, [ch3, sc in base of 2nd tr of next petal, sk next 3tr, sc in next tr] around, ch3, sl st in first sc to join, turn. (12ch, 3lps)
Rnd4(RS): Ch1, *in next ch sp work sc, ch1, sl st into strand midway up side of nearest right hand petal made in rnd2, 7tr in same ch sp as beg sc, ch2, turn, dc in first st, bptr around each tr, hdc in end st, ch 1, turn, fpdc around first tr, [sk next st, fpdc around next st] 3 times, ch1, sl st in top of end turning ch, ch1, sl st in base of same turning ch and adjacent side strand of nearest left-hand petal from rnd2, fold this petal forward to work behind it and ch2, sc in ch sp. In next ch3 sp, which falls directly behind a petal in rnd2, make petal same as in rnd2 except omit picots. Rep from * around alternating these 2 types of petals, turn. (12 petals)
Rnd5(WS): Working into backs of the petals of rnd4, sl st into 2 double strand lps of the base of each of the next 3tr, sc in 4th tr, [ch3, sc in 4thtr of next petal] around, turn. (12ch sps)
Rnd6(RS): Ch3, 5dc in same ch sp, work 6dc in each rem ch sp around, join in top of beg ch2, turn, do not fasten off. (72dc)
Gusset and Strap
Rnd7(WS): Ch1, fpsc around each dc, join in beg sc, for strap, ch75, use care not to twist ch, sl st in 20thsc from beg of strap, turn, sc in next 75chs of strap, place a marker in last sc of strap.
Rnd8: Sc in next 53sts of case and in each of next 75sc of strap, do not join, move st marker. (12sc)
Rnds9 & 10: Rep rnd8. At the end of rnd10, do not fasten off.
Join Front and Back
Rnd11: With RS of Case Front and Back facing and with WS of Front piece facing, sl st into 3rd lp of hdc of rnd6 of Back, [insert hook in top 2 lps of next sc of Gusset and into back 3rd lp of next hdc of Back, yo, draw through all sts on hook] around Gusset, then working in rem sts of Back that form part of bag opening, sl st into back 3rd lp of each hdc, sl st to beg of seam, do not fasten off, turn bag RS out to make Belt Lps.
