Halloween Crochet Patterns—Free & Easy

Crocheted Black Cat, Pumpkin, & Ghost

These easy Halloween patterns are fun, festive, and whimsical. Make them for the special Trick-or-Treaters in your life. Crochet a ghost, black cat, and pumpkin.

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn in orange, white, black, and green
  • Size H / 8 / 5mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Glue gun
  • 4 11mm google eyes
  • Piece of Felt
  • 2 8mm half black beads

Gauge

  • 7sc = 2 inches
  • 7sc rows = 2 inches

Notes

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join rounds with a slip stitch unless otherwise stated.

Pumpkin

  • Round 1: Using orange yarn, chain (ch) 2, 6sc in 2nd ch from hook, join in beginning sc. (6sc)
  • Round 2: Chain 1, 2 sc in each sc around, join in beginning sc. (12 sc)
  • Round 3: Chain 1, sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, [sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] around, join in beginning sc. (18sc)
  • Round 4: Ch 1, [sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around, join in beginning sc. (24 sc)
  • Round 5: Ch 1, [sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc] around, join in beginning sc. Fasten off. (30 sc)
  • Round 6: Work in rows. Stem: attach green yarn in first sc of the previous round, ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 3 chains, slip stitch in same sc as join. Fasten off.
  • Finishing: Glue 2 google eyes over rounds 2 and 3 about 3/8th of an inch apart, using Figure 1 as a guide. Cut out a triangular nose and a mouth from felt. Glue to pumpkin using the photo as a guide.

Black Cat

Body

  • Rounds 1-4: With black yarn, repeat round 1-4 of pumpkin pattern. (24 sc)
  • Round 5: Tail: Chain 10, slip stitch in 2nd ch from hook, slip stitch in each remaining chain across, slip stitch in next sc of round 4. Fasten off.

Head

  • Rounds 1-3: With black, repeat rounds 1-3 of pumpkin pattern. (18 sc)
  • Round 4: Chain 1, sc in first stitch, chain 2, slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook (first ear), slip stitch in each of next 4 stitches, chain 2, slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook (2nd ear) slip stitch in next stitch, leaving remaining stitches unworked. Fasten off.
  • Finishing: Glue 2 google eyes over top of round 2 on head about 1/8th inch apart. Whiskers: tie a 3-inch piece of white into knot around center of round 1 on head. Separate plies of yarn, trim whiskers to ¾ inch.

Ghost

Head

  • Rounds 1-3: With white, repeat rounds 1-3 of Pumpkin. (18 sc)

Body

  • Row 4: Work in rows. Chain 1, sc in each of next 6 sc, turn. (6 sc)
  • Rows 5 & 6: Chain 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in each sc across to last sc, 2 sc in last sc, turn.
  • Rows 7-12: Chain 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
  • Row 13: Chain 1, sc in first sc, [ch 2, sc in next sc] across. Fasten off. Glue the half-round black beads to top of rounds 1 and 2 on Head about 1/8th inch apart.
